“The safest road to Hell is a gradual one - the gentle slope, soft underfoot, without sudden turnings, without milestones, without signposts.”
-C.S. Lewis
The most terrifying aspect of the road to hell is how unextraordinary it seems.
Playing it safe over the course of a lifetime will lead you there.
This looks like small compromises, unnoticed sins, or fleeting moments of cowardice.
Before you realize it, the walls have closed in and you find yourself handcuffed to a set of circumstances you had no intention selling your soul to.
This is the reality for most people who choose to play by the best system’s rules.
Even if we are never able to fully release ourselves from aspects of systematic dependency, we must retain our sovereignty by never compromising what matters most.
Who are you when you choose to sacrifice your value system? What is actually left inside?
You must continue to self-reflect and ask “WHY?”
There is no aspect of life meant to be spared, as truth never fears being question.
If you succumb to living a lie, self-reflection will allow you to catch yourself before falling too deep.
Regardless of how far down the road to hell you have traveled, it’s never too late to take your first step back towards the light.
