I never thought of darkness
as an unchecked absence of heart.
Projecting evil on another
when I’m the only place it can start.
The war internally rages
but focused on worlds I can’t control.
Telling myself dual stories
to avoid the fear of becoming whole.
Lost within my abandonment
they may have been right to let me go.
Who’s to judge right or wrong
when pain’s the truth we’ve come to know.
Convinced of my insanity
for seeking love that can’t be defined.
Dreaming of courage to change
believing pasts are meant to be left behind.
