“The old hunger for voyages fed at this heart…To go alone…into strange cities; to meet strange people and to pass again before they could know him; to wander, like his own legend, across the earth—it seemed to him there could be no better thing than that.”

Trapped in mundane cycles
of a meaningless forever.
Not seeking external hope
to ease the weighted burden soul carries.
Stars shine on the darkest night,
telling a story of something more.
Embodying the deepest truth
but moving further away with each sunrise.
Time carries on,
but innocence is left behind.
A harsh world leaves reflection
as the only place for true answers.
Missing what once was,
a time of blissfully ignorant vices.
Comfort no longer soothes as anaesthesia
from the intoxication of existential awareness.
Pain the only certainty,
even love requires courage to let go.
Are struggles truly a blessing?
Does this just give strength to carry on?
Forever an outlaw,
winding roads are the only place of familiarity.
Would it truly matter
if I died seeking endless destinations?
Soft whispers in the darkness,
a prayer the light of purpose guides me home.
Abandoning a story of self,
does this make one free or a fool?
Waiting with a soft heart,
left open to be broken by vulnerability.
One day maybe we can see,
the force calling out our names.
Nothing is needed to dream,
but death is to do it all alone.
Will you share me a morning smile?
Is divinity found in settling down?
Maybe you’ll stay another day
as a true love of mine.
Hell lives in the mind,
drowned by tears of self-deception.
Aching to remember,
but unsure if memories are meant to stay intact.
Closing my eyes,
knowing you always lived on the inside.
Unable to understand it,
but trusting the heart will find out why.
Here once before,
cycles repeat until we accept change.
