We’re all taught to seek love
found in a timeless dream.
A storybook ending,
or recapturing of innocence.
We crave to escape
the harsh realities of a cold world
by finding warmth
within the heart of another.
But in searching outside,
we lose touch with the truth.
The moment we latch on
to feelings labeled as love,
we sacrifice ourselves
to maintain a comfortable illusion.
True love is found in change.
It can’t be grappled or controlled.
Narratives of innocence can be a byproduct
of doing the work to not lose your soul
by seeking false promises of validation.
You mustn’t change who you are,
as you’re perfect in imperfections.
All you need is to reconnect
with the heart of your inner guidance.
All moments outside yourself
is to act on tyrannical imposition.
How you show up for yourself
is what you'll project onto another.
Catch the last train at midnight
and leave the illusionary stories behind.
There’s no sense in continuing
on with games keeping you from change.
High within the mountains,
from the peak stare down at your reflection.
This season of change brings challenge,
but nothing you can’t bare.
Each day, a little bit older
closer to a final call of judgement.
Will you look back and see
you moved forward in the right way?
Did you keep your heart open
despite remaining vulnerable to pain?
Time may capture your innocence
but it’s worth the lessons learned along the way.
Love is a synonym of letting go.
Saints aren’t made with self-endowed claims.
We’re all the broken and neglected
as well as the one to pick up the sword.
The dagger of a rose
ensures the heart will bleed,
but we’re forever too young
to know those devilish thorns.
Addicted to the thrill of this chase,
continually putting ourselves through pain.
