The Devolution of Man
How our methods of organization have disconnected us from the natural world and laid the groundwork for a technological takeover.
Since the dawn of modernity and the Industrial Revolution, mankind has been engaged in a process of devolution. Through years of urbanization and a disconnect from nature, the wild element of the human being has been traded for a comfortable dependency on an automated system of governance. Now, this dependency is threatening the very survival of mankind’s existence in the natural world.
Desmond Morris labeled our current method of organization as The Human Zoo. If reintroduced to the wild and unplugged from one’s dependencies, the vast majority of people would not know how to survive. We have domesticated ourselves to reap the benefits of convenience, but at what cost has this come?
Living within the confines of our zoo has created a fear of the natural world. Nature cannot be tamed or predicted like the zoo environment, making it a threat and force needing to be controlled. This wild element has left us in a perpetual state of fear. We’ve been taught to fear the sun, fear breathing air, and fear one another.
Instead of facing our fear, most have chosen to run. Technology and artificial intelligence promises an opportunity to “escape” the perceived harsh realities of our world by entering into the digital Metaverse. Many have already created a psychological dependency and intimate relationship with their tech, making them doomed to eventually implant it within their body.
The paradox of the singularity event, where man merges with machine, is that it’s sold as the next natural step in the evolution of human consciousness. Unfortunately, it will do no such expanding, as the mind and our sensory perceptions will become trapped in a closed loop circuit, operated by the tech itself. Your perceptions will no longer be your own, and you’ll attach to the hive mind of the artificial intelligence cloud.
Many make the mistake thinking they can reason with this technology, as if it’s of the same consciousness of themselves. Technology, having no spirit, has no ethics. It is a manifestation of The Ahrimanic Deception noted by Rudolf Steiner. Many futurists have already spoken of mankind as “useless eaters,” which is exactly what the A.I. will conclude regarding “the problem of man.”
When connected to the technology, we will have two choices: serve in the role assigned to us or face extermination. There will be no room for individual expression or choice, as free will is useless in upholding the technocratic system. Mankind is destined to become automatons unless we reconnect with the essence of our spiritual consciousness.
A re-wilding of man must take place if we are to preserve our own sovereignty. Reconnect with your heart and be guided only by your ethics, not the dictates and algorithms of a totalitarian technocracy.
